I’m tired of not writing on my blog. I have 10-15 posts sitting in drafts, just waiting to see the light of day.
Perfectionism sucks. I’m writing this because I can’t let myself keep holding back.
A tweet that hit home
Today, I came across this tweet by Pedro:
man i can never blog as much as i want. don't know why. it's something i've always wanted to get in the habit of doing regularly but i. just. can't.
— Pedro Duarte (@peduarte) October 14, 2024
i write 1 post then beed 1 year to recover lol
And a fellow Twitter friend, Arvind, commented:
Think of it as a digital garden rather than a blog. It takes out the perfectionism aspect.

That makes so much sense. A “digital garden” feels more like a place to grow ideas over time, without the pressure to have everything perfect from the start. It’s a freeing way to look at writing.
I’ve been giving way too much importance to my blog, making me overthink every post.
I’ve been writing 1,000 words a day, but it’s all been in my private journal (my writing app). It feels safe there. But now, it’s time to push myself to make more of my writing public.
Blogging affirmations
I also remember a post I came across a few months back titled “Affirmations for bloggers” by Nicole Tietz, which really helped me. It shares some great affirmations to push through blogging blocks, like:
- You have things to write about.
- Your perspective matters.
- You are good enough.
- Posts don’t have to be novel.
- Mistakes are okay!
- You can write on a schedule.
You can check out the full list of affirmations in Nicole’s post for more.
Blogging doesn’t need to be perfect, and it’s okay to share work-in-progress thoughts. It’s about time I got comfortable with actually voicing my thoughts here.
Thanks for reading! I hope this encourages you to start or continue your own blogging journey.
